Vacature voor de functie van voorzitter van het Communautair Bureau voor plantenrassen (CPVO)

The University of Aarhus and the CPVO are jointly organizing an ‘Ornamental Open Day’ at the testing station in Aarslev, Denmark, on 1st September 2010.

The meeting aims at discussing various items related to the Community plant variety protection for ornamental varieties with Breeders and stakeholders in the filing of applications for Community plant variety rights (CPVR).

At this occasion, the Community Plant Variety Office will provide information on Community Plant Variety Rights system and the application procedure including:

• submission requirements for plant material;
• DNA analysis in DUS testing;
• fees;
• appeals and objections;
• access to documents;

The examination office will explain practical aspects to the DUS testing including:

• DUS testing methods;
• common problems with plants submitted for DUS testing;
• photos submitted by applicants.

The Administrative Council of the CPVO has adopted rules of procedures to allow non-governmental organisations operating in the sphere of plant variety protection under the Community plant variety protection system to send observers to its meetings.

GEVES and CPVO are jointly organising a Vegetable Open Day in the GEVES experimental unit at Brion (Maine et Loire,France) on Wednesday 6 october 2010.

This open day is aimed at breeders, seed companies and representatives of the examination offices and registration authorities in the European Union, and will provide the occasion to present ongoing DUS trials of vegetable species.

This forum will also allow an exchange of views on essential aspects in relation to the harmonization of technical examinations, and in particular on two important issues:

• Variety reference collection: scope, management, use, maintenance....
• The consideration of disease resistance characteristics for DUS technical examinations: MATREF network, the undertaking of the disease resistance tests, choice of pathogens...
